MANDUKA was founded by internationally recognized yoga instructor Peter Sterios in 1997. Since then, the company has sold more than 2 million yoga mats, with a brand presence in over 60 countries, producing a variety of yoga gear for both men and women.
It all started to prevent slippage during yoga!
The company has expanded to become a world-renowned business, famous for providing essential yoga accessories, including rubber mats made from recycled plastic and mixed with recycled yarn.

Manduka’s name is inspired by the Sanskrit word for 'frog'.
Manduka's founder wanted a perfect name for his company, one that would resonate with his customers and would have relevant meaning… a name reflecting the beauty and elegance of practicing yoga, using the subtle body elements of gravity and grace… So, he chose MANDUKA, which means 'frog' in Sanskrit and refers to a human being who adopts the posture of a frog while practicing yoga.
