Celebrating 260 years of Faber-Castell

Faber-Castell celebrated its 260th year anniversary in 2021 with numerous workshops, product features, influencers, and featuring its creative customers.

Leading up to the 260th anniversary, Faber-Castell gave creative classes online, teaching consumers how to spark their creative juices and get the best use out of their products.

The classes started at the beginning of April on Instagram hosted by recognized artists, such as Itamar Dutra @ItamarDutra , a Brazilian illustrator. He showed the process of drawing a castle, a horse, how to make flags blow in the wind, and much more. For him "creativity is that moment right before an idea, when you feel you are creating something. I think there is also a creative state, when you allow yourself to experiment with something new.”

Dutra also explains more about his creative process, and ways to produce different types of shading, coloring, and effects using various Faber-Castell premium products. For example, the Faber-Castell Grip 2001 graphite pencil or Faber-Castel Albrecht Dürer Watercolor Pencils can create completely different techniques.

Another spotlight is on German urban artist Jens Hübner (@jenshuebner). Jens teaches the best techniques to paint and color using shadow and light, soft edges, highlights, and other pro effects, with a special focus on water and Albrecht Dürer Watercolor Pencils.

Towards the end of the Faber-Castell creative classes, Jens combines 7 techniques: erasing lines, tone scale, soft edges with and without water, scrapes, splashes, and highlights.

You can join in the fun and creativity by sharing your final result with Faber-Castell by tagging @fabercastellusa on your photo. As they say “it's not about what you create, it's about creating.” Join the 260th-anniversary creative celebration now!
