Adventures in Time - 140th Anniversary of Seiko Watches

This year Seiko celebrate their 140th anniversary through the campaign “Adventures In Time.”

When Kintaro Hattori founded Seiko in 1881, he was just 21 years old. He created a company that would continue to produce high quality and remarkable precision products. Yet his greatest legacy was his vision of the kind of company he wanted Seiko to be: “Always one step ahead of the rest.”

Seiko has an ambitious media and content program planned for 2021, which was developed to celebrate Hattori’s vision and spirit. The pillars celebrate 140 years of history, broken down into “Time Defying Engineering'', “Precision” and “The Watch of Legends'' calling upon stories of some of Japan's greatest legends such as Naomi Uemura.

Seiko has always strived to make the best quality equipment, which is precisely why the legend Uemura chose a Seiko 6105 divers watch to accompany him on his 1970 solo climbing adventure to the world's highest mountain peak.  It is these memories and more that will be celebrated in collaboration with CNN en Español in Latin America and Mexico.

From June to September 2021, CNN en Español will honor the technologies developed by Seiko’s brand collection Prospex. Seiko Prospex has created Limited Edition Anniversary watches, on sale March 2021, inspired by the landscapes and seascapes of Japan. The Limited Edition watches feature the deep green colors of the oceans that surround Japan’s Iriomote island.

The campaign expects to receive excellent media results, as it coincides with the 2021 Olympics in Japan which honors the company's ties to long-lasting Japanese precision and excellence. From October to December 2021, Grand Seiko will be featured showcasing how the No.1 Japanese brand of watches manufactured and changed the industry.

Duty Free Dynamics is proud to support Seiko and the various Seiko brands. If you are interested in purchasing Seiko products, you can reach out to our Category Manager Francisco Suárez.
